How Does Gong Compare to Competitors?

vs Clari

Different focus - Gong offers complete revenue intelligence and activity mapping across the entire Go To Market (GTM) organization. Clari is focused on discipline in pipeline forecasting and deal hygiene. Gong offers a wider range of platform capabilities through its Engage and Forecast modules. However, Clari is best in class for both forecasting accuracy and enforcing a structured sales methodology. Gong has more established market presence as a leader in revenue AI (Gartner Magic Quadrant 2025)

If your goal is to automate many of the tasks associated with managing the revenue process from initial contact through close, you should consider selecting Gong. If your goal is to improve the discipline associated with managing a pipeline and ensure that the forecasting aspect of revenue management is accurate, you may want to consider selecting Clari.

vs ZoomInfo Chorus

Both are conversation intelligence platforms, however, Gong offers more robust revenue orchestration with forecasting and engagement tools. Chorus (ZoomInfo) is focused on enriching call analytics with B2B intent data. Chorus has better integration with ZoomInfo's database, while Gong is more capable of providing visibility into the GTM organization across functional teams. Pricing is similar, however, Gong requires users to purchase modules in bundles

If you need a comprehensive platform that enables revenue teams to manage their entire workflow, from opportunity creation to close, you should select Gong. If you primarily need to analyze calls and integrate intent data into those analyses, you should select Chorus.

vs Revenue Grid

Revenue Grid offers native architecture within the Salesforce ecosystem to provide unified activity capture and forecasting. In contrast, Gong is a platform agnostic solution that can work across multiple technology stacks. Revenue Grid is ideal for companies that are Salesforce first, while Gong is geared towards the broader GTM teams. Both offer revenue intelligence capabilities and have comparable enterprise level security capabilities.

If you have a large investment in Salesforce.com and are looking for a native application that integrates with Salesforce.com to manage the revenue process, you should select Revenue Grid. If you have a diverse set of applications that are used across multiple platforms to manage the revenue process and require a single source of truth to connect these applications together, you should select Gong.

vs People.ai

People.ai focuses on recording all activities and behaviors that can be measured and then uses those measurements to guide revenue producing decisions based upon those activities and behaviors. People.ai uses a holistic approach to track all activities and behaviors associated with sales and customer service and, therefore, creates significant operational burdens for users. Gong's focus is on providing actionable intelligence to drive revenue-producing decisions using AI and machine learning technology. Therefore, while both platforms provide similar capabilities for large enterprises in terms of pricing and scope of functionality, People.ai is focused on providing an end-to-end, fully-integrated solution with comprehensive tracking while Gong is focused on providing actionable intelligence to support decision-making related to customer interactions and opportunities.

If you want to map every possible activity of every individual associated with your organization, you should select People.ai. If you want to utilize AI driven guidance to help make revenue producing decisions about how to engage with prospects and clients, you should select Gong.

vs Aviso

Aviso specializes in creating and applying Deep AI models and Predictive Analytics for Forecasting. Gong positions itself as the broader "Revenue AI Operating System" that encompasses Engagement Intelligence, Conversation Intelligence and Forecasts. While Aviso has the ability to create strong predictive models around specific use cases (such as Sales Forecasting), Gong has the ability to integrate multiple processes across different departments within a company.

If you are primarily interested in leveraging advanced predictive modeling to improve your forecasting accuracy, you should select Aviso. If you are looking for a platform that will allow you to leverage all of the capabilities associated with managing the revenue process, you should select Gong.

What are the strengths and limitations of Gong?

Pros

  • Named 2025 Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant – ranked highest in Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision for Revenue Action Orchestration
  • The first comprehensive Revenue AI OS – unifies conversation intelligence, forecasting, engagement automation and agent orchestration under one umbrella platform
  • Proven ROI at scale – trusted by over 5,000+ enterprise customers including ADP, Upwork, Virgin Pulse – document over $100M in productivity gains (over 6,700+ hours saved, 32% lift in response rates)
  • Use AI Agents to Automate Follow-up Activities, Pipeline Edits, Enablement Triggers & Forecast Corrections to Reduce Manual Work
  • Enterprise-class security – SOC 2 Type II with HIPAA mapping, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, Active Bug Bounty Program
  • Flexibility in how you integrate — can be integrated into Salesforce, HubSpot and other systems using a flexible approach that does not require pre-existing connectors.
  • A rich source of revenue data — The Revenue Graph will capture and connect all interactions throughout an organization by design.

Cons

  • High cost with very aggressive bundling — The default is $250 per user per month for the bundle; getting a core only purchase agreement is becoming increasingly difficult to negotiate.
  • Over a two-year period, 56% increase in price — Significant increases in cost for existing customers who have been forced to buy modules they do not need.
  • Large implementation costs — On top of the platform and license cost there are professional service fees of $15,000-$65,000 or more depending on the complexity of your implementation.
  • Mandatory platform fees — Regardless of the number of employees on your team, you will be charged a base cost of $5,000 to $50,000 per year just to access the platform.
  • Steep learning curve for complex workflows — To get the most out of the advanced features and configure the AI agents properly requires education and expertise.
  • Premium for small teams — Teams of fewer than 25 employees pay an 80% premium ($240/month versus $108/month) based on the way the platform fee is distributed.
  • Dependency on modules — Difficult to use the conversation intelligence capability as a standalone product; the bundling model compels users to pay for additional features such as Forecast and/or Engage even if they will never be used.

Who Is Gong Best For?

Best For

  • Mid-to-large enterprises (250-5,000 employees)Best use case for proving ROI, volume discounting applies, and the full range of comprehensive revenue AI capabilities are being used to support GTM teams.
  • Organizations with multiple revenue functionsAll teams — Sales, RevOps, Enablement, and Customer Success — benefit from the unified Revenue Graph and cross functional visibility.
  • High-velocity sales organizationsAutomated agents and AI driven engagement — Suitable for teams responsible for managing large numbers of opportunities and/or high volumes of calls/meetings.
  • Enterprise security-conscious companiesEnterprise compliance features — SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.
  • Companies prioritizing forecast accuracyIntegration with forecasting — The Forecast module uses intelligence to enhance pipeline predictability and accuracy.
  • Multi-cloud tech stacksNon-platform dependent — Platform agnostic approach enables seamless integration into Salesforce, HubSpot and other revenue tools without requiring forced integrations

Not Suitable For

  • Startups and micro-businessesSmall-scale platforms can’t be justified by either minimum platform fees ($5,000+) and per-user costs ($108-250/month) for a Return On Investment (ROI). Consider using Avoma, Jiminny, or Revenue.IO as a substitute.
  • Small teams (under 25 users)The premium pricing penalty ($240/month per user) compared to Enterprise rates, creates a Cost Per User that is not viable. Consider Conversation Intelligence Only Tools Like Chorus.
  • Budget-constrained organizationsThe Total Cost Of Ownership ($300,000+ annually for 100-user Team With Implementation) of Gong far exceeds that of People.ai or Clari. Consider Affordable Alternatives Like Oliv.ai.
  • Conversation intelligence-only needsGong has an aggressive bundling strategy where you are forced to purchase unused Forecast/Engage modules. Use Chorus, Avoma, or Jamie for Call Analytics Alone.
  • Real-time coaching requirementsGong focuses on Post-Call Analysis & Historical Insights. There is Limited Real-Time Guidance Available. Salesloft, Revenue.io, Or Jiminny Offer Live Coaching.

Is Gong Worth It?

Gong is the #1 provider of Revenue AI solutions that include conversation intelligence for sales teams. Using AI to analyze call and email conversations, along with CRM data, Gong provides coaching, forecasting, and deal win tools for revenue organizations. With a rating of 4.8/5 on G2, a very large and growing list of partners (over 250+) and a demonstrated ability to deliver ROI, Gong is a highly desirable solution for most sales organizations. However, due to its enterprise focus, it is priced at a premium and requires some setup complexity to get started.

Recommended For

  • Sales teams within mid-market and enterprise companies with 50+ representatives
  • Organizations currently utilizing either Salesforce or HubSpot and are looking for a way to gain more insight into their pipeline
  • Revenue leaders that want to coach their sales teams using data-driven insights, and/or improve their forecasting capabilities
  • Organizations that want to invest in AI and believe that having an advantage in sales, using AI technology, would help them remain competitive

!
Use With Caution

  • Smaller sales teams (i.e., less than 50 representatives) because the costs associated with Gong, both financially and in terms of required setup and implementation, would likely be too expensive
